It is with heavy hearts that the family of Steve Plican announce his passing after a long battle with COPD, on Friday, December 18th, 2020 at the age of 89 years.
He is survived and is lovingly remembered by his brothers, Mike, Walter (Gail), sister Mary Ambrosie, sister-in-law Joyce Plican and numerous generations of nieces and nephews.
Steve was predeceased by his parents Mike and Rosie Plican and siblings Russell, John, Anne, Helen, Raymond and Bill.
Steve was born in Thorhild, AB and lived on the original homestead, until, due to health in 2017, he moved from his farm to independent senior living in Thorhild, where he continued to enjoy life and his many friends in the community. He would always say “I just love it here”. Those who knew him, knew of his kindness and his generosity to always lend a hand.
For their exemplary care of Steve in his final days, the family thanks Dr. Mouton, Dr. Van Der Walt and the staff for their compassionate care he received at the Redwater Hospital. Special thanks to the staff at Newthorad Seniors Housing as well Thorhild Homecare for their compassion, care, kindness and support always going above and beyond for Steve.
Do to COVID-19, a small private Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 28th, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church with interment to follow at St. George’s Cemetery.
