Ruth Lucille Rufiange
November 23, 1921 to April 25, 2023
It is with deep sorrow that the family wishes to announce the peaceful passing of Ruth Rufiange at the age of 101 years.
Ruth lived a long and healthy life; born in Parr, Alberta and growing up with her siblings on a farm in the Rochester area and marrying her husband, Leo, in 1946. Together they raised a family of seven children while living on a farm in the Dapp area. She later worked outside the home as a camp cook. In their retirement years, they moved to Westlock where she continued to live until her passing. She was a creative woman; her family and friends treasured the hand-made cards they received for special occasions. Ruth was always busy doing something. She kept herself engaged by reading, crossword puzzles and other word games and was always a person to be reckoned with when it came to card playing. She started a lady’s group in 1972 which carried on through the years, the last meeting/party was at her house 10 days before she passed. Ruth’s smile, her homemade doughnuts, warm chocolate cake and fresh bread were enjoyed by family and friends.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Leo Rufiange in 1999, her daughter, Karen Devaux in 2023, her son-in-law Gerry in 2011, her son-in-law, Don Foster in 2022 and her grandson in law, Troy Duncan in 2022.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her children, Brian (Myrna) Rufiange, Allan (Lois) Rufiange, Dolores (Keith) English, Marilyn Foster, Leonard (Brenda) Rufiange and Anita (David) Dutchak, 20 grandchildren, 35 Great-grandchildren, 5 Great-Great- grandchildren.
A mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Finnan Church in Dapp on May 5th, at 11:00 A.M. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Westlock and District Community Hall on May 5th at 2:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Westlock Health Care Auxiliary Society.
