Joyce Fuchs

With hearts full of warm thoughts and happy memories, we share the peaceful passing of our beloved mother, Joyce Fuchs, on November 17, 2023, at age 91. 

Joyce was born February 17, 1932, the eldest of George and Mamie Coley’s seven children. Joyce married Fritz Fuchs on May 2,1951 and they shared 43 years of marriage until Fritz’s passing on May 2,1994. 

Joyce was a devoted mother to her children: Anna Marie (Dennis); Fred (Doris); Valerie (John) and an adored grandma to her grandchildren; Kathy (Brian), Kevin, Kristen (Marco), Michelle (Tony), Jennifer (Andre), Clinton (Colleen), Desiree (Josey) and special grandma to Amanda (Brad) and Shannon (Shane). Her most coveted gift in life was the joy brought to her by her 23 great grandchildren; Bryson, Nola, Violet, Brandon, Kimie, Luca, Adrian, Ellie, Katey, Ashton, Stran, Jake, Luuk, Liam, Emmett, Charlotte, Eva, Carmen, Nolan, Deanna, Jaxen, Izaak, and Kora. 

Joyce was predeceased by her brother, Albert, sisters and brothers-in-law Joe and Yvonne, Karl and Joy. She leaves behind her siblings Leroy (Alma), George (Jolene), Rosie (Bob), Dennis (Carol), Darrell (Donna), sister-in-law Eunice and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was a dear friend to many. 

Joyce was a strong, hardworking woman with a great sense of humour. She lived life to the fullest and accepted her challenges in life with dignity, integrity and fortitude. She will be especially remembered by her family and friends for her wholehearted laughter and her culinary skills - no one went hungry at Joyce’s table. Always crafting wholesome meals that were lovingly finished with flakey apple pies, cake or perfectly shaped cookies. 

“A limb has fallen from the family tree that says grieve not for me. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song, the good life I lived when I was strong.” 

Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary Roman Catholic Church, Friday, November 24, 2023 at 11:00 am, interment to follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Clyde, AB. with Father Aureus Manjares celebrant.

Please join the family for a light lunch and memories at the Westlock Memorial Hall, 9903 106 Street, at 1:30 pm.
