Obituary

Josephine Makowski

June 13, 1933 – November 13, 2020

As we celebrate her life and are grateful for the memories, we say goodbye to our Mother, Baba, sister,

and friend, Josephine Makowski of Thorhild, AB.

Josie took pride in freshly cut grass and a beautiful yard, and added sparkle to Opal Road with her

Christmas displays. She enjoyed music, playing cards, acting in skits, and going for coffee. She believed in

community and lent her talents to many organizations in the Thorhild area. She loved her family, her

friends, and her many wonderful neighbors.

She will be dearly missed by her daughters, Carol Revega and Michele (Henry) Woudstra, grandchildren

Christopher Revega (Dayna Burnell), Candace (Todd) Hewko, Shaun Woudstra, and Robyn Woudstra, and very special great-grandchildren Tyah Hewko, Nash Hewko, and Emma Revega.

Josie was the oldest child of Nick and Ann Yakimec and is survived by her sisters Helen Gill and Shirley

Semeluk, and brother-in-law Leon Gutek. She was predeceased by her husband Frank, cherished sister

Victoria Gutek, and Victoria’s three boys, John, Tom, and Marty.

Mass of Christian Burial and interment will take place with immediate family at St. Anne’s Roman

Catholic Church, Thorhild AB.

Our family would like to thank the staff at Westlock Continuing Care for their thoughtful and

compassionate care of Josie. If desired, donations in Josie’s name may be made to Westlock Continuing

Care Center Recreation Fund, 10203 96 Street, Westlock, AB T7P 2R3, or St. Anne’s Roman Catholic

Church Cemetery Fund, Box 252 Thorhild, AB T0A 3J0.
