Audrey Mildred Cole (nee Gower)
July 31, 1936 – March 13, 2021
Audrey’s family is saddened to share her passing in the early hours of March 13th. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister. Even though the long hard battle she fought with an autoimmune disease, robbed her of her ability to communicate and enjoy life to the fullest, she knew her family was with her to the end and that she was loved.
Prior to her illness, Audrey loved to bake, (especially for Christmas) knit and crochet and have her family around for special occasions. Many of us were blessed with an afghan or slippers created by her. She enjoyed curling and bowling, belonging to a league at the Bonnie Doon lanes for many years. Playing cards was also a favorite pastime, often into the early morning hours.
Born the 4th of 5 daughters to Edward (Ted) and Mildred Gower of Westlock, she grew up in Pickardville and Westlock. After her marriage to Jim in 1961, they moved to Edmonton, where they raised their family, and were blessed with almost 60 years together. In Edmonton, they developed life long friends, from neighbors and strangers alike.
Missing her, are her husband James (Jim) Cole, children Norma Crone, Diane (Greg) Bowen, Jay (Kandas) Crone, Gerri (Barry) Nykyforuk, and Gillian (Brian) Peter and her sisters Gwen and Alfretta. She also reluctantly says goodbye to 10 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren.
Predeceased by her parents, first husband Norman Crone, and sisters Eyvon and Deany.
Due to Covid restrictions, funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
