DURSTLING, Alfred Carl

February 26, 1933 – June 26, 2023

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Alfred Durstling on June 26, 2023 at the age of 90.

He will be remembered by his wife, Loretta (Schlachter); daughters, Sharon (Terry O’Donnell), Sandra, and Janet (Larry Lutz); sons Brian (Carole Janke) and Darwin; as well as 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Alfred was born in Pickardville, AB, and raised on a farm just southwest of the hamlet.  He married Loretta Schlachter on November 12, 1954, and together they raised their family in Westlock.  Once their children were grown they moved back to the Pickardville area as a couple. Alfred had a love for fishing, camping, being the best grandpa ever; keeping his car showroom clean, and spending time keeping his yard and garden pristine.  He was a handyman at heart – if it needed painting, fixing, or maintaining that was a perfect way for him to pass his time.  The sweetest tooth he had, and never would he pass up a dessert.  In the most recent years, Alfred called Smithfield Lodge home, he thoroughly enjoyed his friends old and new, daily visits and activities, and teasing the staff (he did love that extra attention).

A special Thank you to Dr. Coulson, Dr. Mydeen, Dr. Frigon, and the kind care and compassion of the nursing staff at the Westlock Healthcare Centre.
