Herb,Pat,Bonny, little Peter and Families my heart goes out to all of you. This is such a sad day for me. The way life unfolded I grew up at BaBa’s place. Pete was like a older brother to me, he spoiled me. He never made me drink milk, so we melted Jersey Milk chocolate bars on that old black stove in the store. Baba never knew! I love that special gentleman with all my heart and I will miss him alway’s. God’s Speed uncle Pete.

Uncle Pete
Of all the many blessings
However great or small
To have had you for a uncle
Was the greatest one of all
The family chain is broken now
And nothing seems the same
But as God takes us one by one
The chain will link again.

Symerychynski Family,
Our sincerest condolences on the passing of Uncle Pete. Uncle does not seem to do him justice, he many times acted as a father to me in my formative years growing up. Both he and your mother Etta were rocks in our family, and your community. There was never enough he could do for you, welcoming us every time like it was our last. So sincere, so generous, so loving.
Our love of Uncle Pete was easily passed on to our children, the far few times we spent time at the farm, are deeply engrained in their memories. The kids remembering Uncle Pete calling a bull “Big John” to come in for feed, both in amazement of Johns size and how gentle and in command Uncle Pete was. The bull seemed seven feet high, with Uncle Pete more like ten feet tall to them.
Teaching me to drive, or letting me fail at it around the yard, telling me I better slow down for the upcoming corner in the fully loaded five ton truck, but letting me do it and aborting the turn at the last minute... taught me lessons in patience, and respect. Respect of power, force and things larger and more powerful than me, things you can tell a teenager but only by letting them do it do they learn it. Lessons I remember today, like it was yesterday... 45 years ago.
The standing invitation to come visit, we were always welcome, and no matter if you turned up unannounced, warm conversation and what seemed like a feast was always brought out.
I learned the meaning of family, real family. Someone I knew I could call with that “one phone call” or in an emergency. I don’t think I ever did, but knowing that option was there... I am forever grateful for.
Of course I can’t forget the time I brought a few band mates out to the farm, to go out and play in the pasture. We brought drums, guitars, amps and a generator. I was concerned we’d bother the livestock, but Uncle Pete encouraged us to crank it up, then promptly left as we did.
Fantastic, deep and wonderful memories I and my family have of our time with your dad.
I remember him lending our youngest son Luke some clean clothes after slipping into a puddle, or likely a cow pie while his clothes got washed. He wore that red jacket proudly, and don’t think he wanted to give it back. But that was Uncle Pete, he would give you the clothes off his back, and raised his family with those same beliefs.
Any time he and I would stop in Westlock, I was always amazed that every person passing by seemed to know him, and made an effort to come over and say hello. He’d introduce me, me beaming for being associated with him.
Your father, grandfather and great grandfather was a man who was deeply respected. Who exuded a quiet, but strong confidence, something you cannot teach. He was one with nature, yet was always prepared for what might come along. Cautious, but caring. Treating his animals with respect. Always ready to accept whatever life threw at him, but not accept it without a fight.
Lessons learned, ones that I will carry forever in my heart, and in my fond memories of him.
As I write this, with tears in my eyes, realize what an influence he was in my life, and I expect many others.

His, a life well lived, a man well loved. What else can you ask for?
Much love,
Brian, Holly, Anna,Adam and Luke Wawzonek
