It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean, 82 on October 8th at the Westlock Hospital with son Brian and daughter in law Valerie of Westlock AB at her side.  She was preceded by husband Timothy “Leo”, daughter Linda, parents Kathleen “Lena” & Charles Smith and brother George Smith.  Survived by son Glen of Acme AB, son Michael of Calgary AB, son Tim (Katie) of Drayton Valley AB, daughter Ann (Tim) Yaremichuk of Vegerville AB and grandson Tyrone (Jennifer) Bishop of Calgary AB.  Jean will also be mourned by brother James “Jim” (Connie) Smith of Grande Prairie AB, brother Albert (Diane) Smith of Sherwood Park AB and sister Betty (Ron) Eldridge of High River AB.  Jean will also be fondly remembered by numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
Jean was born and grew up on the family farm in the Assiniboine Valley of Manitoba.  She loved being outdoors in the sun and making friends with all the farm animals.  After her marriage to Leo and the birth of son’s Brian & Glen, family moved to Calgary AB.  After raising her family in Calgary, she moved to Westlock and became a member & volunteer of the Royal Canadian Legion and Golden Age Drop In Centre.   Jean lead a very full active life.  She loved to bowl, play darts & pool, cheer on her favorite baseball team the Blue Jays, play bingo and listen to Elvis.  Over many years Jean acquired numerous trophy’s for bowling and darts but none were more treasured than the bronze medal in 2009 & gold medal in 2013 for pool in the seniors 55 Plus Games.
