John Wallace of Westlock, AB, formerly of Clyde, AB, peacefully passed away on Friday, April 26, 2019 at the age of 84 years. He was born in Dreghorn, Scotland on May 28,1934. John was predeceased by his wife, Janet (Jenny), in 2003.
He is survived by: Children: William (Ana) Wallace of Valencia, Spain, Edith Wallace of Coquitlam, BC, Judith Adam of Santa Fe, NM, Colin (Linda) Wallace of Westlock, AB;
Grandchildren: Kizzi (Simon) Blomfield, Carri James, William (Will) C. Wallace (Amanda Abrahams) all from Ipswich, Suffolk, England. Colleen Haynes Wallace (Paul Anstee) from London, UK, Joanna Wallace Dominguez (Xavi Martinez), Carla Wallace Dominguez all from Valencia, Spain. Lindsey Brumm (Vincent Cinerini), Natalie Wallace, Andrea Wallace all from Edmonton, Alberta. Gregory Wallace from Westlock, Alberta;
Great-Grandchildren: Sharni (Jonathon) Andrews, Harrison Blomfield, Stefan James, William Wallace all from Ipswich, Suffolk, England, Angel Anstee and Ellie Anstee from London, UK;
Great-Great-Grandchild: Ezra Andrews from Ipswich, Suffolk, England;
One Sister: Isobel (Robert) Frew of Irvine, N. Ayrshire, Scotland;
One Brother: Billy Wallace of Scotland, as well as other family and friends.
John and his family emigrated from Scotland to Canada in 1975, eventually, settling in Clyde in 1979. All who knew him will remember his knowledge and skill in caring for both plants and animals. His love of gardening showed in the copious amounts of vegetables and flowers that he and his wife grew. They will also remember that he was never at a loss for words, always happy to stop for a chat and perhaps share a story or two.
A funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 7th at 2:00pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Westlock, AB with Pastor Rick Chappell officiating. Interment in Dungannon Cemetery, Clyde, AB. Donations gratefully accepted to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta or the Dungannon Cemetery Fund.
