HOWIE, Glen Allen
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Glen Allen Howie, 53, of Bon Accord, Alberta. He is survived by his wife Jean Howie (Woodstock, NB), son Jason Howie (Edmonton, AB), daughters Taylor Howie (Woodstock, NB) and Tonya Goulet (Edmonton, AB), granddaughters Kayla Goulet and Skye Goulet (Edmonton, AB).  His father Allen Howie (Westlock, AB), mother in law Evelyn Montena (Woodstock, NB), his sister Linda Howie (Medicine Hat, AB), sister Janet (Marty) Riopel (Westlock, AB), brother Dean (Lisa) Howie (Edmonton, AB) brother in law Murray Montena (Bon Accord, AB) as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his mother Ethel Howie (Westlock, AB), and father in law Murray Montena (Hilden, NS).

Glen was born and raised in Westlock, Alberta. Growing up on the family farm he forged an incredible work ethic that he carried with him throughout his entire life. He began his career as a Power Tong Operator in the oilfields at the age of 20.  He married and moved to Nova Scotia, where he furthered his knowledge and career in the trucking industry.  Starting out as a dispatcher he quickly moved to management where he held various positions, including Operations and General Manager. He ended his career working for Boyd Ventures in Onoway, Alberta.

Our Dad always gave 110% in everything he did, and he always made sure that everyone was looked after. He could seem so gruff and tough, but to anyone that knew him he was as soft as a marshmallow. He would be the first person to offer a helping hand or a word of advice. We’ll treasure memories of swimming in our pool, watching action movies on the couch and driving while listening to old 80’s music classics like Loverboy. We’ll remember riding our quads and calling him with all our stupid questions. We will greatly miss the chance to do that with him again.

Thank you to the first responders, the RCMP of Morinville, AB and Edmonton Police Service. He will be very missed and forever loved. Glider is at peace.
