Obituary

In Loving Memory

Faye Margaret Skinner (May 9, 1945) passed away on November 3, 2019 at Swan Hills Healthcare Centre in Swan Hills, Alberta after a short illness.

She is survived by her adoring husband of 55 years, Stewart Skinner, and her two loving daughters, Tracey Peddle (Bruce) of Spruce Grove AB and Laurie Sperling of Swan Hills AB.  She was and still is adored and loved by her two beautiful granddaughters, Casey Jean Sperling and Sidney Faye Sperling, both of Swan Hills AB.

Faye is also survived by her three loving sisters with whom she was very close.  Adele Crothers (Rick) of Edmonton AB, Judy Kehn (Gary) of Victoria BC, and Sandy Morelli of Victoria BC.  She will be dearly missed by her nieces and nephews:  Ryan Kehn (BC), Charlie Neimers (AU), Tyler Crothers (AB), and Devin Morelli (BC).  She is also survived by her dearest friend Pam Hayden, now of Westlock AB.

Faye was born in Flin Flon MB, but spent a great deal of her life in Sidney BC.  It was there that she met Stew and they married on June 12, 1964.  They had an amazing life together that took them from commercial fishing off Vancouver Island, to living in an A-frame log cabin with no power/water/heat near Valleyview AB, to working a homestead and clearing land near High Prairie AB.  While the Island held such a huge part of her heart, the last 31 years she spent in Swan Hills ran a close second.  She made some wonderful memories in Swan Hills, and met some wonderful people.

It was Faye’s wish to have no service, but there will be a celebration planned sometime in the future filled with music, food, and laughter, just as she planned.

In lieu of donations, it would be Faye’s wish that those who loved her would volunteer their time at a non-profit closest to their hearts.  Faye was a dedicated volunteer with the Swan Hills Food Bank and the Swan Hills Santa’s Elves for the past eight years, and she worked tirelessly to help others alongside her colleagues.

We had the best wife/mother/gramma/sister/aunt/friend ever created, and for that we are and always will be so very thankful.
