JOHNSON, Loretta Irene
Mrs. Loretta Irene Johnson entered the gates of heaven peacefully at home in Morinville, Alberta on Sunday early morning, October 1st, 2017.  Her final days and months were spent surrounded by family and friends that Loretta loved dearly while she braved her second battle with breast cancer. Loretta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister & friend to many.  She was born January 21, 1942 in Consort, Alberta, the daughter of the late Albin Liknes & Alice (Cook) Liknes. She attended Public School, one year of Bible School and later got her Nursing Aides training in Edmonton in 1960.  She was united in holy matrimony to John Johnson on May 22nd, 1965 in Manning, Alberta. Together they had 3 children; Derwin, Carolyn & Gregory.
Loretta worked in Manning as a Nurses Aid (at) the hospital and was also the Matron of the Del Air Lodge for several years. She taught Sunday School, led Pioneer Girls & directed 2 musical plays at the Gospel Tabernacle.
They moved to Westlock in 1985 where John & her managed the Fas Gas station at Clyde corner for 6 years.  After that, they moved to White Rock, BC where they managed 3 apartment buildings while they enjoyed the ocean air.  They moved to Pickardville, Alberta in 1998 and back into Westlock in 2003.  They built a basement suite and took care of Loretta’s parents until they both deceased.  They moved to St. Albert in 2009 and lived there until this past April when they moved to Morinville to be near their son Greg.
Loretta loved music, sang & played piano in church, as well as at other community events.  She was a great cook, and many a delicious meal was had with friends and family around her beautifully set tables. She loved entertaining and any other opportunity to bring people together. She had a great laugh and a wonderful smile that warmed up any room.  She loved gardening and spent hours outside making her yards beautiful.
Her beautiful life will forever be remembered and cherished by her husband John Johnson, her daughter Carolyn (Matt Fisher) & their children Abigail & Bennett, her son Greg Johnson (Jodi) and their children Mariah & Kelsea. Her brother Wade Liknes (Marian) sisters Judy Hanson (Bill), Barb Quist (Bert), Joan Powers (Stan), Nola Peterson (Dave) & Sheryle Picklyk (Don).
